The Holiday Edit: Pack like a Pro

Thursday 16th June 2016

A beach bag is a definite must have for any summer holiday. Choose a large one like this Deichmann beach bag, which will have plenty of room for your beach towel, sun cream and books.

Top tip – You can always use the bag as your hand luggage to save on suitcase space whilst travelling.

A maxi dress is a great item to pack as it’s easy to wear and will easily take you from day to night with a quick change of shoes.  A white dress like this Primark maxi will be perfect for daytime on the beach and dressed up for the evening with a statement necklace. Pack a pair of embellished sandals like these Deichmann beaded sandals, which will dress up a simple maxi and also add some sparkle by the pool too. Of course a bikini is a holiday key item.

Top tip – It’s always worth packing more than one bikini to give you a few different shapes or styles.

Primark’s bikinis are stylish and a snip at £6, so you can afford to pick up a couple. Lastly, the floppy hat is the key piece of the summer season. Pack a plain one like this Primark straw hat and accessorize it by tying a scarf round the brim for a flash of colour and detail.

Men’s packing tends to be a lot more practical based and along with the usual books, aftershave and t-shirts there are a few essentials that are very versatile and a must to include in your suitcase. First thing is a good bag or rucksack. Use a rucksack like this Primark one as your hand luggage and reuse for days out whilst away; to carry your camera, maps and water.

Deck shoes are a great choice to pack as they are comfy enough for the daytime but smart enough for the evening also. This pair from SoleTrader has a quirky espadrille feel to them too.

Top TipRemember to roll your items in your suitcase to help prevent creasing and to save on space.

A couple of pairs of swim shorts are worth packing just so you don’t have to wait for them to dry. Primark’s swim shorts like this striped pair starts at £6 so are cheap enough to pack more than one.

Make sure to pack some smarter and more lightweight styles of shirts for the evening, to head out for dinner or drinks. This printed short sleeve shirt from Primark would look great with chinos or jeans.

As travelling with children means a much longer list of things to pack, it can be tricky to make sure you have everything you need. From health to entertainment, make sure these things are definitely on the list as top priority to ensure you have a safe and relaxing holiday.

Firstly Sun cream is number one! This should be a high factor like Nivea Sun Protect 50 available at Superdrug and as it’s in a handy spray bottle it’s easier to apply.  Consider packing items like a small bottle of hand sanitizer and a mini packet of refreshing wipes for keeping little hands and faces clean.  You’ll find lots of travel size products perfect for your beach bag in Superdrug at The Harvey Centre. Hats are also really important if your holiday is somewhere warm. Primark has a huge range of children’s hats, including cute choices for the girls and cool hats for the boys.

Top tip – Make sure you have pre-loaded the device with all the music, games or movies before you jet off abroad.

For entertainment and to keep the kids occupied consider a tablet like an iPad, of course making sure you pack headphones too. Try Argos who has a huge range of electronic tablets and child size headphones in store as well as all the necessary adapters to charge them abroad.

Primark has a gorgeous collection of kids swimwear too including this vibrant leopard swimsuit for the girls and bright striped swim shorts for the boys. Both of these are at great low prices too so again you can afford to pack a couple of sets.

Top Tip – Pack a towel, swimwear and a small bottle of sun cream in your hand luggage so the kids can jump straight in the pool when you arrive and no digging around in your case.

And of course don’t worry if you realize you haven’t packed everything. There are always shops both at the airport and at most holiday destinations, so forgetting your toothbrush doesn’t’t have to be a disaster. Most of all have a brilliant holiday.
