Spring Summer Trends 2018

Tuesday 24th April 2018

We’ve quickly sailed straight into the year and with the first few months of 2018 behind us already, warmer, spring and summer days are well on their way.

Along with the warmer weather which, of course we just can’t wait for, spring summer each year brings with it a whole string of new trends. As it begins to get warmer, we can peel off the layers (and leave the house without four jumpers and a coat on again) and as the days get longer and brighter we can start to transition from dark winterly make up trends to brighter and fresher looks.

Spring Summer 2018 Nail Trends

As always nail trends start on the runway and this spring summer, simplicity is key!

Big designers such as Jeremy Scott sent models out into New York Fashion Week with bright orange nails. As did Marc Jacobs so if you’re brave enough to wear this bold colour, a zesty tangerine tone also looks to be huge this season.

If you’re looking to add a little something to a plain manicure, Kate Spade sent models out on the runway at fashion week with a single black line painted vertically down a nail. This style is super simple but very effective! The Harvey Center is home to not one, but two nail bars so all you need to do is book in for a manicure at either Nail Bar or Harlow Nails and tell one of the professional nail technicians what you are after.

Nail artists for Phillip Lim took this simple style one step further and added a metallic line horizontally across nail at their show so to amp it up a little ask your technician to create your look with silver or gold tape instead. Whatever you choose, you’ll be sure to leave the salon feeling pampered and looking runway ready!

Spring Summer 2018 Make Up Trends

Make up trends change hugely from season to season and for Spring Summer 2018, bright eye shadow is going to be big. As with orange nail polish, bright, neon colours featured heavily on the eyes on this seasons runway.

Pink is the perfect colour to embody femininity and is an easy one to work into your everyday make up look. Make like the Valentino models and use a dark pink on the lid, you can recreate this look but picking up a Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Eyeshadow Palette Flawless 4 for £8, from Superdrug. This palette contains a range of different shades of pink so if darker tones don’t suit you, you can use it to experiment with what looks best of your skin tone.  If you’re looking to really go with this trend, then a L’Oreal Infallible Single Eyeshadow Paint Vampies in shade Pink, number 105 could be the way to go. This metallic liquid eyeshadow is ultra-lasting and will grab attention all day and all night.

You can also pick up the L’Oreal Infallible Single Eyeshadow Paint Vampies in blue (Infinite Blue 204) teal, (Concree 106) and yellow tones (Lime 108) all of which were also huge on the runway this season with designers like Chanel, Antonio Marras, and House Of Holland all using them on their models. Notably, these shades are less of an everyday look but can be great fun to channel in the evening.

If eyes are not your thing, then a bold statement lip is also a big trend for this spring summer. Warm, orangey reds were seen throughout runway shows.

Spring Summer 2018 Hair Styles

A new season is a great excuse for a new hair style. Two complete opposites set to be big this year are blunt cuts and natural texture; so whether you’re looking for hair that is straight and smooth or a more natural messy style, there is something for everyone. Head to Legends hair salon who have a team of skilled hairdressers who will help to make your new look a reality in time for Spring.

If you are looking to just change up your style for the day, the hair accessories are the perfect way to do so. Pick up a classic headscarf in a bold print from Primark or Claires Accessories to help create your retro up do.
